What is Corporation Tax?
Corporation tax is charged on your company's taxable profits: trading profits, investment income and gains on disposals.
Taxable profit is not the same as accounting profit. Some costs are not deductible, capital spending is relieved through allowances, and specific reliefs may apply to your sector or activity.
We prepare the computation that bridges the two, file the CT600 with HMRC, and tell you what to pay and when — with no surprises close to the deadline.
Common situations where Corporation Tax is needed.
Limited companies
All UK companies with taxable profits in an accounting period.
Growing businesses
Where profits and capital spending are increasing year on year.
Companies investing
Equipment, vehicles or fit-out costs needing capital allowance review.
Innovative companies
Where qualifying development work may support an R&D claim.
Groups and associates
Where related companies affect how tax is calculated.
Loss-making companies
Losses still need reporting, and can often be used.
Exactly what we handle for you.
Scope is confirmed in writing before we start, so you always know what is covered.

Payment
Corporation Tax payment → 9 months + 1 day
Corporation Tax is normally due 9 months and 1 day after the end of the accounting period for companies that are not subject to the quarterly instalment payment regime. Larger companies may be required to pay Corporation Tax by instalments under separate rules.
Filing
CT600 filing → 12 months
The Company Tax Return (CT600) is normally due 12 months after the end of the Corporation Tax accounting period. Paying the tax and filing the return are two separate deadlines.
Planning
Most tax-saving decisions must be made before the year end, so we review during the year rather than after it.
Deadlines and thresholds are set by HMRC and Companies House and can change. We confirm the exact dates and amounts that apply to you in writing.
